Extra material and mentions

It’s been interesting to follow the life of the new album. When we for the first time in June gave a hint about it’s existence we had a plan not to just put it out there. We set a release date, created a rough time plan (not super serious), we’re still indie, right? But a schedule to get it all ready and for people to know about it. A schedule that slowly became tighter when we realized we wouldn’t even have the album cover ready for the release date. But that’s a different story.

When the album was out it took a few days or even a week for it to really take off. For example one day when I was out cleaning the barn to prepare for setting up a summer gym, I happened to have the phone in my hands photographing and suddenly got a call from vlt. Usually they just call to sell subscriptions, but this time they wanted to write something about the album. “Småbarnsföräldrarna släpper album” or “Parents releasing an album” a paywall article. Also available in the paper version of vlt 2107-08-09.

When the paper copy of vlt came out we received greetings from our friends at livekarusellen that we’ve been touring with and they wished us good luck with the new album.

Things are slowly staring to return to normal. We’ve been sharing some new ideas, working much with video and subtitling. If you’re interested in the story behind Explorers we’ve created two videos where Anneli and I talk more about the album. And the upcoming music and projects sheds light on that there is a life after the album for our creative spirits too.

Love Explorers art cover as much as I do?

Do you love the art cover for our new album as much as I do? So much that you want to look at it now and then throughout your day? Well, here’s a treat for you then. I’ve created a couple of backgrounds for phones. Just click the images below, save to your picture gallery and set as background.

Album – Explorers

It did really happen, now it’s out! Not like we haven’t done anything else during the last two years when we first came up with the idea of putting it all together. But it was amusing and a bit unexpected to see it there on top on Spotify instead of Divine Collection which we released 10 years ago. For sure a milestone and hopefully a memorable moment in Enchanted Duo’s history. It’s the first time that we’ve worked more focused on a release, some lessons learned and I do feel we got some tools to work smarter, we avoid working harder.

Explorers is not just over yet, we’re still working on some extra material that we’ll release when you’ve hade the time to get comfortable with the album. I do hope there will be some reviews of the album, but I know it’s hard to get the attention of reviewers with so much music being produced nowadays and their need to prioritize. What you could do is make your own review of the album over at CdBaby. We would really appreciate it and I wouldn’t be surprised if we in another 10 years are ready to give you the next album.

Explorers album cover art

For quite a while now we’ve been planning for a photo shoot. A picture to match the music and make the cover art for the album Explorers. But that photo shoot just seems a bit illusive. Not really wanting to happen. I’m not sure why. It’s just the non-flow sometimes. Suddenly the release date of Explorers were coming closer and closer and we still had no cover art.

When I sat down to paint a couple of evenings ago I just sat down to paint. I had no thought of the album whatsoever. I just blended white, greens and blue and smeared on. I like painting with my hands. Just mixing the colors and stroking the canvas and see what happens. All of a sudden there was the contours of a jellyfish. I’ve been thinking of painting a jellyfish for some time. I love how they move. Like a ballet of the ocean. The jellyfish represents our emotions and recommend to let go of them rather than to surpress them. Really pleased with the result I made a few marketing pictures for the coming album. When we looked at them Nikolaus said briefly that this picture would look good as the cover art and that perhaps this would suite the genre we’re growing into.

The other evening I sat down with a brush to lift out the jellyfish some more with different red shades. Red always seems too brave a color choice to try and blend into a painting, but it worked really well. I stared at that wonderful magic jellyfish and felt convinced this would be the cover art for Explorers. So different from what I originally imagined. I mean at first I was looking at steampunk outfits for Nikolaus and me. Thinking of discoverers like Andreé and Samuelsen, but with a twist.

Now I understand why that photo shoot hasn’t happened yet. It wasn’t supposed to make the album cover. Perhaps we still need some new pictures of us as a band though.

Album update

It’s 10 years since we formed Enchanted Duo, it’s 10 years since we released our last album and now we give you 10 tracks. The new album will be called Explorers and the release date is set for 1st August.
